"The importance of guiding their actions with a personal, overall vision of the purpose of teaching. They are able to communicate their vision, including how it has changed as a result of new knowledge, understanding and experience;"
Working Teaching Philosophy
My philosophy is always changing as I learn something new about teaching:
I try to teach with my philosophy in mind and share it with others with both my words and actions. On the first day of teaching, I introduce myself by showing a picture book to build a rapport with the students. This year I included a page that said "...YET" in it to have the opportunity to tell the students my philosophy of teaching. I explained how I would hear students say comments about themselves like "I'm not good at Math" and how I thought that saying negative comments about oneself can affect their performance. I told them about how I have a "...yet" theory that perhaps they do not feel good at a certain subject or area yet but they can become where they want to be through working at it and practicing. I believe that even a life concept like becoming motivated or organized can be obtained through educating yourself and putting goals into action.
