Equation Workout
This game can go multiple ways. The main point of the game is that when students get a certain answer that they have to do a certain number of squats, push-ups, sit ups, crunches, burpees or any other type of fitness. I would usually give students differentiated sheets that have equations on them and put what answer would go with what they have to do. For example, if they got the answer of 24, for that answer they would need to do 5 squats. Students can work in pairs or individually. This was probably our favorite game because students would have lots of energy to work on the equation and would help for the students to be energizied througout the class if we needed a boost.
Equation Jumps
This one is simple but works to energize the class. Basically, the teacher can ask an equation and the students will have to jump that many times depending on the answer. You can switch it up to to make it new and different each time. For example, I've done pushups, toe touches and strokes on an air guitar.
"What time is it Mrs. U"
This game is similar to "What Time is it Mr. Wolf" but instead of the teacher calling out simple numbers, the students walk the answer to the equation.
Equation Twister
Play like normal Twister on an original Twister mat. Put sticky notes with numbers on the circles and give out an equation that the students would have to solve and put their foot or hand on the answer to the equation.
Puddle Jump
Teacher writes the answers to the equations the teacher will call out on blue construction paper shaped like a puddle. Teacher writes the answer out to the equations multiple times in different areas across the floor. Teacher calls out an equation and the student will have to jump to that particular answer. The object of the game is the first student to get from one side of the puddles to the end.
Rock Scavenger Hunt
Teacher writes the answers to equations on multiple number of rocks with a sharpie. Teacher pair students in groups. The group has a certain amount of time to find a rock with that specific answer on it.
Dance Maths
Each student gets a mat with numbers on it (or take turns). The teacher calls out the answer to the equation and students need to put their two feet on numbers that could multiply together to get that number. Along with some music and momentum, students can really get moving.
Equation Hopscotch
Teacher or students write with sidewalk chalk the answers to different equations. Students need to jump to that number. Good outdoor game!
Circle Math
Have the group stand in a large circle with a clear path behind the entire circle. Make sure there is ample distance between each student. The leader stands stationary out the outside of the circle. The group walks in a circle, one student behind the other. When a student arrives at the leader, the group stops walking, the students reads aloud the problem and answers it. If the answer is correct, the group continues to walk forward. If the answer is incorrect, the group walks backward in the circle. The next student now arrives at the leader and answers flash card problem. Continue playing until all flash cards have been answered.
Dice Jump
The class stands in a circle with area clear. One student goes in the middle of the circle. The student rolls the dice and adds them up and shouts out the answer. The students in the circle join hands with the student in the middle. All the children jump in place the number of times of the sum of the dice. Continue playing until all students have had a turn rolling the dice. Students can also multiply the numbers as well.
